What to expect at kitespot Pink Beach?
On Bonaire, a 15 minute drive from Kralendijk you’ll find kitespot Pink Beach with an off-shore wind, no rescue service, very flat water and a bit more wind than at kitespot Atlantis.
Kitespot Pink Beach has this name because it used to be pink by the eroded shells and coral. During time the pink sand left because of a hurricane, but the name stayed.
Wind
The wind at kitespot Pink Beach is offshore and is coming from the east. From December until July it’s mostly around 17-27 knots. The wind is a bit gusty during the day but most stable during morning and at the end of the afternoon. This constant tradewind gets its power from the temperature differences between subtropics and equator and the rotation of the Earth.
Kitesurfing rules
It’s officially not allowed to kitesurf at this spot. If you stay at least 75 meters from the shore, in the dark blue water, you’ll probably be alright with the rangers.
Level of riding
This spot is only for advanced riders, and you should not ride alone because there is no rescue. Enter the water very carefully because there is a lot of coral in the water with nasty edges. Furthermore it's good to know that the dyke disrupts the wind near the shore. Checkout this movie to have a tour at Pink Beach.
