What to expect at kitespot Los Barriles?

In Mexico, a 1.5 hour drive north of Los Cabos airport, you´ll find kitespot Los Barriles.

Los Barriles is a classic baja town where it's said the first windsurfers arrived back in the 80's and settled due to it's nice windy conditions. Nowadays it is a town where retired people and riders live. It has a pretty laid back vibe. You´ll definitely find yourself in a windsurfer, kiter, wingfoiler, little town.

The beach at Los Barriles is long and wide which will make you feel comfortable when rigging your gear. It has all the infrastructure you need to have a nice time.

Wind

The wind season starts in November and ends in April. Thermal wind blowing side on shore, averaging 17-25 knots.

Water conditions

Radiant blues, still part of the sea of Cortez. Average temperature in winter is 18°C and in spring it will rise to 21°C .

The water is a bit choppy with a small shore break.

Launch Area

Wide and long beach.

Lessons & Gear

Few schools there. Contact Exotikite Kiteboarding, Vela Baja or Kiteboarding Baja School.

Level of riding

Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced.

Warnings

Check up with locals for riding zones.

How to get there?

From Los Cabos airport drive north 1.5 hours on the road parallel to the Sea of Cortez.
