What to expect at kitespot Aghios Nikolaos?

Kitespot Aghios Nikolaos is the perfect spot for beginners due to it’s flat and shallow water, sandy environment and mild wind conditions. Are you a more advanced rider? On the lagoon side of the beach the water is flat and the conditions are perfect for practicing freestyle. However be careful there can be some shells in the water.

Thermal wind

Just like the other kite spots nearby Lefkada, there is thermal wind at Aghios Nikolaos. The wind is onshore or sideshore when N, W, NW, WNW or NWN. Therefore, the best time to come here is from May till September. Keep in mind that during July and August it can get crowded at the beach with regular beach guests.

Launch area

The kite launch space is of medium size. The beach has three specific zones one swimming zone, one freestyle riding zone (no beginners) and one beginner zone (no freestyle riding). Also there is a lifeguard services available at the spot.

There are parking and toilet facilities available at this spot. Go to Kite Club IDAS for food, drinks and questions about lessons and/or gear renting.

How to get there?

Preveza Airport (PVK) is about 10 km away from the spot. It’s also an option to fly to Corfu and take the ferry from Corfu (CFU) to Igoumenitsa. The ferry takes about 1,5 hours and from there it’s still a 1,5 hour drive by car.
