What to expect at kitespot Sal Kitebeach?

On Sal, a 20 minute drive from Sal airport you’ll find kitespot Sal Kitebeach with a sandy beach and some nice kickers.

Sal is a part of the Cape Verde Islands which lays in front of West-Africa in the Atlantic Ocean and has a volcanic origin.

Wind

Kitespot Sal Kitebeach has a tradewind from the NorthEast which is side onshore. This constant tradewind gets its power from the temperature differences between subtropics and equator and the rotation of the Earth. The wind has a good wind certainty from November until mid-June and is 14-25 knots.

Water

The water temperature is around 22-27 degrees, so you can hit the water with your shorty and a lycra if you don’t like sunburns. Also beware of the rocks in the water at low tide (around 14:00). The water is flat to choppy at the rocky area (reef) and the further you go out (200m from the reef) the higher the waves 1-2.5m.

Launch area

You can set up your gear on the sandy beach.

Level of riding

Kitespot Sal Kitebeach is best for intermediate or more experienced riders because of the waves.
