What to expect at kitespot Fuseta Lagoon?

In Portugal a 30 minute drive from Faro you’ll find this lagoon with nice flat water and a sandy beach. It’s a perfect freestyle and big air spot.

Since 2016 kitesurfing is allowed during the bathing season in the area between the island in front of Praia da Fuseta Ria and the frontal coast.

Thermal Wind

From mid-March to late October there is a strong and steady thermal wind (Nortada). The wind is coming from the south west and is side shore. The thermal wind starts around 1PM, hits its max at the late afternoon, and gives lots of days with more than 16 knots wind. This wind is not visible on the weather statistics.

Levante (wind from the east) is sometimes present at this spot. This wind is strong after sunrise and dies around noon.

Best time to visit this spot is from June to August.

Remember you are not allowed to cross the river (Ria Formosa) and keep a safe distance from boats.
